Maureen is a multi-disciplinary artist based in London, England. Her work examines memory and the seen. The evidence of human presence is the theme that runs through all of her work whatever the subject.

Working across print, paint and paper, the use of differing methods and materials offers a variety of pathways to explore, with drawing being the connector between them all. Maureen works as sustainably as possible using non-toxic inks, recycled materials as matrixes, natural linseed oil based lino, household cartons (tetrapak) and recycled floor covering. Even the paper she prints on, is recycled offcuts collected from various print studios in London.

Originally trained as a portrait painter as a mature student at the Heatherley’s School of Fine Art in London, her time spent in the print room was a revelation and the beginning of her love affair with printmaking.

As an art educator Maureen runs drawing and printmaking workshops from her studio in London, in person with community based groups and online. Since 2019 she has taught drawing and printmaking with Black Pond Studio based in
Rehoboth, Massachusetts. With Concord based artist Nancy Gruskin she runs an annual workshop online over a five week period each autumn, again through the auspices of Black Pond Studio.

She is on the board of the UK Printmakers Council, a member of Zea Mays Print Studio and the UK Southbank Printmakers Cooperative. She has been awarded artist residencies at Cill Rialaig, Ireland, JOYA:Air, Spain and Zea Mays Print Studio, USA.
