Meet Our Team
Liz Chalfin, Founder & Studio Director (she/her)
The artist who started it all! Liz’s vision for a safer, more sustainable world of printmaking is the heart and soul of the studio. If you are a new member or artist-in-residence, Liz will be the one to orient you to the studio space and equipment. She heads our innovative Research Program and has worked with dozens of our interns to explore and expand on the world of green printmaking. Liz can be found all over the studio, leading workshops, answering technical questions, or sometimes just chatting with our members over a cup of tea.

Sheldon Carroll, Facilities Manager (he/him)
The face of the Residency Program, Shel is the first person many of our visiting artists meet when they arrive. He’s the one to ask for restaurant and brewery recommendations if you’re planning to explore the local area. Shel goes above and beyond for our residents, and is a big part of why some artists come back every year. He takes on most of the studio maintenance and upkeep, handles shipping and receiving and keeps the Guest Suite clean and tastefully decorated.
Kaye Carroll, Director of Membership, Media & Marketing (they/them)
If you’ve received an email from Zea Mays Printmaking, chances are it was Kaye who wrote it. They hold things down in the office and are responsible for scheduling residencies, writing contracts and handling all the nitty-gritty clerical details that keep the studio running smoothly. They also handle ZMP’s social media and marketing, so they’re the one to reach out to for press inquiries or general questions about the studio.
Angela Zammarelli, Shop Technician (she/her)
Angela wears many hats around the studio, including faculty member, mentor, studio monitor and contributor to the Flat File and many of our exhibitions. As our Shop Technician, Angela maintains the presses and equipment, takes care of inventory and helps set up our Teaching Studio for workshops. A lot of her work takes place behind the scenes or when the studio is closed, but is a huge part of what makes the studio a safe and comfortable place for artists to create.
