$50 materials fee covers plates, ink and paper
On these four Tuesdays in May, we’ll explore some of the technical and expressive possibilities of photopolymer plates. Each week we’ll work with the plates differently, but in ways that will build on each other. We’ll initially work with photographic and photo-based imagery, exploiting the rich, velvet blacks this process is known for. From there, we’ll introduce drawing and looser, hand-made imagery and effects. In the last few weeks, we’ll turn to printing the plates in color on top of each other to create layered prints and focus our attention on color depth and pictorial space.
This is the first time offering a weekly photopolymer workshop, and will be a wonderful opportunity to work with these plates over a longer period of time with guidance and the support of a workshop for an entire month.
