Pronto Plate printmaking is also known as polyester plate lithography, and is one of the simplest, least expensive, and most direct methods of making prints. For this workshop, we’ll be focusing on drawing on the surface of the plates (not unlike drawing on paper or vellum) with a range of simple tools from ballpoint pens to Sharpies. The plates are then rolled up with ink that sticks where your drawing is, and are printed with a modified etching press. But this is just the beginning. These plates can then be layered, inked with different colors to differentiate textures or images, or easily cut into shapes to create dynamic and unusual prints. This workshop encourages those who love to draw, and also those new to drawing, to try working with these plates in this creative and supportive environment. This workshop is open to both the beginner and the experienced printmaker.
