A selection of Susan Rostow’s sculptural books and monotypes will be on view at the Sanford Gallery from April 8, through May 10, 2014
Reception with the artist, Sunday, April 13, 2014, 6-8 PM
Rostow’s sculptural books were created from monotypes bound with a mixture of mud, glue, pigment, tree fungus, roots, bones and shells. The artist invites the viewer to touch and interact with her pieces as all the tactile qualities are not visible at once. Surprise elements reveal themselves in the process of turning the pages. As the viewer becomes engaged in the sight, feel and smell of the piece, they experience a sense of visiting a strange but familiar place.
