Print Raffle 2015

To benefit The Ruth Chalfin Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Raffle is over – thank you to all who contributed!

We raised $1200 for our scholarship fund!

All proceeds go to the Ruth Chalfin Memorial Scholarship Fund to support artists. Last year’s event enabled 25 artists to attend a workshop they otherwise would have been unable to afford.  Help us increase that number this year!

1. Barry Moser, “Eli in First Samual” from The Pennyroyal Caxton Bible – winner:  Elizabeth Cunningham
A gorgeous, limited edition engraving by the Master Illustrator and Engraver, Barry Moser from his Bible series.  This print measures 3 1/2″ x 7 1/4″ framed.

 

 

2. Carol Wax, “In Crease Peace”, “Spin Heart”, “Yes Deer”, and “HexStagonal” – winner:  Peter Cangialosi
carol_websiteA set of four beautiful intaglio relief prints by famed mezzotint artist Carol Wax, all roughly 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ image size on 4″ x 4″ paper.  These prints are accompanied by playful poems written by Ms. Wax.

4. A three-hour private lesson in White Line Woodcut with Annie Bissett – winner:  Doreen Libby
A three-hour private lesson on the interesting hybrid between monoprints and Japanese style watercolor woodcuts taught by Moku Hanga artist Annie Bissett. Annie brings life to the delicate and accesible process known as “White Line Woodcut”.

 

 

5. Your Art, Better: A two-Hour Critique / Coaching Session with Lynn Peterfreund – winner:  Cathe Janke
raffle_lynnLynn Peterfreund is an experienced printmaker, painter, and teacher who works individually with artists to help them see ways of developing their art. This session can take place at Zea Mays Printmaking or somewhere else by arrangement.

 

 

6. A two-hour private lesson in Woodcut (Introduction or Reduction method) with Julie Rivera – Sarah Thomson
julieThis two-hour private lesson will dive into the in and outs of the art of woodcut printing focusing on an introduction into the medium or a more advanced approach of a  reduction, based on your skill set. Julie Rivera is a woodcut and collage artist.

 

 

7. A two-hour Professional Website consultation with Lyell Castonguay – winner:  Julie Rivera

8. A two-hour Watercolor Monotype lesson with Kate Jenkins – winner:  Philippa Cully

The resulting prints have a luminous, watery quality, unlike anything you could paint directly on paper or produce using printing inks. Kate Jenkins is a watercolorist, printmaker and weaver.
