Terry Wise
Though I’m primarily a painter, I spent much of the pandemic taking online courses from Zea Mays on woodcut printing and color mixing with Caligo inks. A major goal of my recently completed Artist Mentorship Program was to create a new body of woodcut printing works. A lot of experimenting occurred, and I began rolling off excess ink onto paper during clean up, which became a supply of colorful papers for collage. I’m usually sitting on the fence between abstract and figurative imagery, so I go both ways. My BFA is in Textile Design (Indiana University) and the colors and patterns of fabrics are ever present in my paintings, prints, and collages.
