The original drawings for these prints were made while I was artist-in-residence at the Bowdoin Scientific Station on Kent Island, NB, during the summers of 2023 and 2024. I found the objects as I wandered the shoreline of this tiny, low-slung island, and pondered the losses that would occur as sea level rises. I used ink and ink wash on water media acetate, mixing in seawater on the wave images. The drawings were then developed into intaglio prints using Toyoba photopolymer plates. Plate development was completed at Zea Mays Printmaking Studio in Florence, MA. The final prints were pulled on Hahnemühle Copperplate Paper at Peregrine Press in Portland, ME.
