Life is weird. I have always thought of myself as an essayist and story-teller, but over the course of the past seven years, I found myself collaborating with paper and creating images in a different way. With the introduction of plates, press, inks, and assorted tools, I started to explore a new language with which to express myself.
This body of work initially emerged from spending time sorting through and mining old piles of prints, cutting them up, and reconstructing images to explore repetition, visual rhythm, and narrative. It is very much about my process of stepping into a new artistic identity–as a printmaker and visual artist–and I think of this as a collection of short and playful existential musings. I enjoy working with up-cycled materials (scraps salvaged from the free bin, plastic lids, etc.), and the tunes I listen to while I create inform the patterns, colors, and imagery of each piece.
