The prints in this gallery are from my new series “Latium,” inspired by the monasteries at Subiaco and the city of Anagni, the territory of my father’s family. I go to Italy as a pilgrim seeking connections – – known and imagined, physical and emotional. I am continually drawn to the colorful swirling marble pavements and the ins and outs of the Gothic arches built into the ancient rock.
The artist book “Craving Shelter” is a joyful expression of yearning amid COVID times. As we crave refuge from a world gone awry, I envision alternate cosmos while we shelter in place. Spheres and colorful foliate forms found in nature and the built world crop up as universal rhythms in this book.
