Embark on a series of experimental investigations in letterpress printing in this weekend workshop. Pressure printing, collagraphs/sandragraphs, and more!
What are these techniques you ask? Pressure prints begin with a low relief collage on paper. You print them by putting that collage UNDER the page you’re about to print. We will make these collages from all kinds of flexible materials from leaves and fabric to various papers, strings, and other materials. Collagraphs are also low relief collages, these will be inked in the press bed and printed like a linoleum or wood block. We will also investigate other ways of printing relief on the Vandercook, making lock-ups with magnets, and experimenting with quick and easy ways to add a spot of color to something.
Participants will leave with samplers of techniques in the form of matrixes and prints plus endless inspiration for future projects.
