This class will meet weekly via ZOOM, with plenty of time to spend on these areas of printmaking with monotype in mind: drypoint, collograph/collage, and the addition and transfer of drawing materials. We’ll be doing drypoint on Petg and other unconventional substrates, rummaging through recycling to make inventive collographs, exploring ways to combine drawing and photo materials with monotypes and other prints and taming the chaos of collage.
The classes begin with a “show and talk” about work done by students based on the previous week’s focus. The group is both supportive and generous with information and aesthetic conversation. The second hour of the class is a presentation of themes with examples and demonstrations. The second hour of the class is recorded and made available for review by students. This class is organized for printmakers with some background in monotype but experience in drypoint, collographs or work in mixed media printmaking is not necessary.
A complete materials list will be sent upon registration. Demonstrations will use Akua Intaglio inks, but other printmaking inks can be used by participants.
