During this one-day workshop we will explore and play with color and line, with an emphasis on understanding the drawing qualities possible in monotype. Fully supported drawing prompts and ways of making marks, patterns and textures will be introduced. When these marks are layered with color, the lines are crisp and the grounds are soft and atmospheric. While using Akua Inks and applicators, and a few extra transfer-drawing methods directly on the plates, students will quickly generate multiple plates to print from all day long.  Each participant will produce a small series of related prints based on the interaction of hand-drawn marks and colorful grounds. This workshop is open to beginners with no printmaking experience as well as experienced printmakers. It can also be used as an introduction or a re-fresher course for those familiar with monotype printmaking with Akua Inks.
