Did you know that you can make beautiful monotypes using watercolor paints instead of printing inks? In this workshop we’ll paint on a prepared plastic printing plate with watercolors. You’ll learn about combining colors on the plate, reclaiming whites by removing paint from the plate, and manipulating the fluid paint on the non-porous plate surface. When we print the image onto dampened paper you’ll see effects that couldn’t be produced by painting directly on paper or by printing with regular printing inks. This workshop will provide new skills and ideas to printmakers and watercolor artists alike, whether beginners or more experienced artists.
