Did you know you can make beautiful monotypes using ordinary watercolor paints instead of printing inks? In this workshop we’ll apply watercolors to a non-porous plexiglass or Yupo synthetic paper printing plate. We’ll learn to manipulate the fluid paint, remove paint to regain whites, and combine colors on and off the plate. When we print the image onto dampened paper we’ll see effects that can’t be produced by painting directly on paper or by printing with regular printing inks. This workshop will provide new skills and ideas to printmakers and watercolor artists alike, whether beginners or experienced artists.
