with Joyce Silverstone
Polyester lithography plates (aka Pronto plates) offer a host of ways to make prints from the drawn mark. Joyce Silverstone takes this direct drawing practice and explores monoprinting possibilities using both traditional and non-traditional ways of working with this medium. She will show you how to print the plates with and without a press.
Part 1 – Lithographic Drawing: Making the Plate and Hand Printing – 47 minutes
Learn the techniques for making a lithograph on a Pronto plate using simple drawing tools. You will learn how to make a test plate, best ways to ink your plate and either hand print or use an etching or litho press to transfer image to paper. This method uses either etching or lithography inks.
Part 2 – Monoprint Methods applied to Lithographic Drawings – 62 minutes
Create one of a kind prints with a repeatable lithographic plate. Build on basic lithography skills by pushing the boundaries of this process to include dry rolling, water resists, painterly inking, and collage cutout plates. These methods use either etching or lithography inks, and can be printed by hand or with an etching or lithography press.
