Viscosity Revealed

April 15 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

$165.00

Saturday, April 15, 10 AM – 5 PM

Viscosity monotype with Akua inks involves a loose, painterly, and often, thrilling exploration playing the edge between accident and control. Create subtle, spontaneous, one-of-a kind prints, using modified inks. Thick and thin inks resist each other in ways that allow for beautiful color interactions in delightfully unpredictable ways. Learn some of the tricks to making this fun way of exploring color work for you, as you add to your printing vocabulary.

Demonstrations will include best modifiers to alter the viscosity of these inks, how to create liquid masks to keep areas of the plate free of ink, and simple offset rolling methods.
This workshop is open to beginners with no printmaking experience as well as experienced printmakers. It can also be used as an introduction or a re-fresher course for those familiar with monotype printmaking and how to work with Akua Intaglio Inks.

About the Instructor:

Joyce Silverstone is a graduate and traveling fellow of The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her current body of work and her workshop teaching centers around layered multiple plate printing using monotype inking methods.
