Creating viscosity monotypes involves a loose, painterly, and often, thrilling exploration of playing the edge between accident and control. Create subtle, spontaneous, one-of-a kind prints, using modified Akua Intaglio Inks. Thick and thin inks resist each other in ways that allow for beautiful color interactions all in one pass through the press, and also allow areas of the plate to stay open with liquid masks. Learn some tips to gain control of the process by practicing a few of the fundamental steps, including how to print viscosity resist line drawings directly to Petg plates, and the best practices for controlling surface rolls of color.
This one-day workshop is a fast paced adventure. Get to know the fundamentals of ink, paper and press use, along with the tools of the studio and some of the unique qualities of Akua Intaglio and Liquid Inks.
