The Viewer Becomes a Traveler: Making Scroll Prints
June 2, 2022 @ 10:00 am - June 5, 2022 @ 5:00 pm
$450.00 – $500.00Thursday, June 2 – Sunday, June 5, 10-5 daily
with Joyce Silverstone.
Play, improvise and learn how to print monotype and relief images that move across the page, working either abstractly or figuratively. Carve and incise plastic plates while exploring monotype inking methods on surfaces that disrupt and enhance the chance for beauty and accident.
Techniques demonstrated will include:
- Transfer Drawing
- Subtractive Monotype: using rags, brushes, tarlatan, and drawing tools to find textures and create interesting edges
- Stencils and Masks
- Color Layering: applying a surface roll or printing multiple times to add depth to a color or image
- Intaglio wiping and printing incised or carved plates
Individual attention will be given to support these print projects. Our focus will be toward generating a flexible approach to imagery. Open-ended exploration will be encouraged.
Limited to 8 participants. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination required.
