Ready for something different? Explore screenprinting in its most painterly form, with no need for stencils, computers, or darkrooms. In this workshop we will be drawing and painting directly onto screens using watercolors and watercolor pencils to create unique monotypes with hand drawn lines, color washes, and a broad tonal range. This is a unique way to make monotypes, using the screen mesh as a sensitive drawing surface and then having the ability to tint the transparent ink that pushes the image through the screen.
Participants will experiment with mark making and a range of materials to see all that this versatile technique has to offer. We will also have in-depth demonstrations of printing techniques and setup, ink mixing, and paper registration — all the things you need to be able to print confidently at home.
All levels of screenprinting experience are welcome!
