$450.00Group Workshop: Wednesdays, 10-5 at Zea Mays: January 10, February 7, March 6, 2024
Individual Zoom sessions: to be scheduled—one each month for 30 minutes with each participant
with Nancy Diessner
This class is a new incarnation of the Photopolymer Project workshop series. These workshops are designed to meet the needs of the printmaker who has already experienced basic photopolymer plate-making and wants to work intensively, and partly independently, to develop a body of work over 3 months with the regular input and support of an instructor and other artist participants.
We will all meet together in the studio at Zea Mays for a full day each month. These workshop days will include demonstrations and technical support in response to each participant’s project needs, as well as focused group discussions of work in progress. Individual support as well as group feedback for projects are important features of these group sessions.
In the weeks between our group in-person meetings, Nancy will be meeting with each participant individually on Zoom for one 30-minute session. These will take place roughly two weeks after the in-person group sessions. These one-on-one Zoom sessions will help participants focus and get critical and thoughtful feedback on their work between the monthly in-person workshops. There will be an online gallery to which participants can post their work for discussion.
Participants need to be able to work on their own between classes, and each monthly workshop will include at least a few hours of open studio time at Zea Mays.
If you’re interested in this monthly hybrid class, you will be asked to share your ideas for your project with Nancy before the workshop begins. We will need to get a sense of your general focus and intentions in relation to photopolymer and your artwork content. Please note: it is understood that your project may change before and after the workshop begins.
For those interested in this class but who have not worked in photopolymer in a while or who have not worked with photopolymer at Zea Mays, Nancy can offer private or semi-private refresher classes before the workshop begins. Please call the studio to inquire about this option.
Note: Materials fees are not included in the price for this workshop. Materials costs will be calculated and charged to participants after the workshop is completed.
