with Sally Clegg.
A la poupee (“with the doll” in French) is an historical method of inking a single etched plate with multiple colors. This workshop dives into the specifics of the inking and wiping stages of the intaglio printing process. Bring plates or make new hard ground/aquatint etchings.
Newcomers to etching will learn the basics of hard ground etching and aquatint, while more experienced etchers who tend to prefer to print from single plates will have the chance to expand into color. All participants will have the opportunity to print a new etching in color, and may also bring old plates they’d like to try printing in this method. This workshop will also touch on areas of color theory useful to gain successful results, and give participants the opportunity to print on various fine art papers.
Saturday and Sunday, 10-5 daily
