with Joyce Silverstone
During this workshop we will delve into color theory applied to monotype printmaking. We will be printing with PETG plates that are thin, transparent plastic. PETG is thin enough to print well either face up or face down for easy registration and printing of multiple color plates.
Experience creating color wheels made with intaglio inks in the morning, and then explore printing with complimentary and analogous colors. We will practice mixing beautiful neutral grays and earth tones to gain control and confidence while printing with color. Spend the afternoon printing with these colors, employing subtractive monotype techniques, and adding surface rolls to integrate and harmonize color layers.
This workshop is open to beginners with no printmaking experience as well as experienced printmakers, and can be used as an introduction or a re-fresher course for those familiar with monotype printmaking and how to work with Akua Intaglio Inks.
Joyce Silverstone is a graduate and traveling fellow of The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her current body of work and her workshop teaching centers around layered multiple plate printing using monotype inking methods.
