This workshop will introduce participants to monotype while exploring composition, color and thematic context.
Abstract and/or representational interpretations will be addressed through line, shape and texture, painterly approaches, additive and subtractive techniques, the use of marks and stencils, and trace monotype.
Emphasis will be given to composition, print format, movement, and working in series. Mixing ink and the use of transparency and transparent layers, multiple plate printing and registration, paper choice, and gradient will be discussed.
Participants are welcome to use any inks of their choice.
In addition to demonstrations, the workshop will include time for sharing and feedback from the instructor and fellow participants.
No press is needed.
Basic materials required include:
- PETG printing plates
- Akua Intaglio Ink starter set
- printing paper
- misc. tools
