with Joyce Silverstone

Are you interested in expanding your printmaking vocabulary during an extended unhurried pace of time at the end of summer? Practice layering paper and inks, play with transparency, stencils and masks, vary how you wipe and manipulate inks on incised or built-up plates, add monotype layers, collage and chine colle, and enjoy strengthening your abilities.

This monotype workshop is designed for artists with monoprint experience and who want to hone their skills during this 5 day workshop with an experimental open laboratory-feel. The intention for these five days is to give you supportive assistance where and when you need it while creating and printing multi-plate monoprint projects. Individual feedback and group sharing will be part of each day, as well as technical help with permanently marked, glued, scratched or incised plates. There will be guidance in choosing paper, practicing registration methods for multi-plate monoprint printing, while exploring new ways of combining monotype methods that may lead to group demonstrations and collaborative moments.

Experiment by delving deeper into what is needed; maybe your focus is on drypoint mark making and drawing, or stencil making and printing from stencils, or multi-plate color layering? Enjoy the support of the group and be inspired by learning from looking closely at prints.

Prior to the workshop, each participant will be asked to email me their questions and goals for this workshop. That email will be followed up with a brief individual conversation to share thoughts before the workshop.

Materials fee not included, participants will be billed at the end of the workshop based on the amount of materials they use.
