Master Class: Advanced Mokuhanga Intensive with Annie Bissett
July 8, 2025 @ 10:00 am - July 12, 2025 @ 5:00 pm
$945.00
Tuesday-Saturday, July 8-12, 10 AM-5 PM
with Annie Bissett
Want to try some new carving techniques? Learn to make a better bokashi? Get tips for working larger? Try mokuhanga style reduction printing or CMYK? This 5-day master class is designed for artists who have completed a body of work using watercolor woodblock (mokuhanga) techniques on their own, outside of a workshop setting, and who feel ready to make a focused advance in their practice.
Annie will meet with participants remotely before the workshop to discuss areas you wish to concentrate on or troubleshoot, and together you will develop a plan for your five days. Instruction during the workshop will be fluid, mostly individualized and one-on-one, although there will be daily topics and demonstrations. Participants also learn from each other as we move through the week and watch each other’s work develop. Mid week there will be a field trip to Smith College Museum of Art’s print study room to view mokuhanga prints from their collection.
Come and join us for the week that previous attendees have lovingly nicknamed “Mokuhanga Summer Camp.”
We are grateful to McClain’s Printmaking Supplies for their partial sponsorship of this workshop.
