Photopolymer intaglio prints are not just about photographs! Although this introductory workshop will focus on the technical process of making high quality, tonally sensitive photopolymer plates and prints, we will also have a chance to explore some of the technique’s versatility. This process is so versatile that it can accommodate nearly any type of imagery, yielding prints with beautiful, rich blacks, delicate tones, and sensitively translated textures.
In this 2-day workshop, students will learn how to create and print a Toyobo Printight plate using their own photo-based digital imagery. The first day will be learning how to create a film positive in Photoshop, and how to make and print a polymer plate. Â Bring a sense of adventure to day two! Time will be spent creating a second plate using either a new digital image or by experimenting with altering the original image digitally or by hand.
All levels of printmaking experience are welcome! This course can also be used as a refresher.
