Introduction to Photopolymer Printmaking
October 1 @ 10:00 am - October 2 @ 5:00 pm
$315.00Saturday-Sunday, October 1-2, 10 AM – 5 PM
with Nancy Diessner
This workshop is an introduction to working with Toyobo Printight plates, a photopolymer plate that is very sensitive to photo-based tonal imagery as well as direct drawing. In fact, the process is so versatile that it can accommodate nearly any type of imagery or visual approach you’re interested in bringing to it. The plates can yield prints with rich, luscious blacks, delicate tones, or lines that sensitively translate the texture of the drawing tool. Through the use of colored inks or multi-plate printing, the plates can also yield beautiful color prints. We’ll be working from digital files of photo-based imagery or collaged imagery that the participant will bring to the workshop. There are many opportunities throughout the process to alter imagery through digital manipulation or drawing, scratching, or adding painterly marks by hand.Â
The workshop is open to beginners with no printmaking experience as well as experienced printmakers. It can also be taken as a refresher course for those familiar with the process.Â
Limited to 8 participants.
