September 24 @ 10:00 am - September 25 @ 5:00 pm$315.00
Saturday-Sunday, September 24-25, 10 AM – 5 PM
with Larinda Meade
Learn the basics of etching on copper – a beautiful medium for line and tone. Etching is an intaglio process that involves printing from a metal plate which is etched with an image. In this workshop you will learn how to prepare a copper plate for etching, how to apply a hardground (Baldwin’s ink Ground), draw into the ground and etch in ferric chloride (a safer alternative to acid etching). Once the line work has been etched you’ll be introduced to an Acrylic Airbrush Aquatint technique to add tone to your plate. Once the plate is etched you’ll learn how to prepare paper for printing, ink your plate and use an etching press to print a small edition. Bring your ideas, sketches, and enthusiasm!
All levels of printmaking experience welcome.
Plates, paper, ink, etching grounds and use of tools are included in the registration fee.
