Interrupt / Interfere / Transform: Woodcut Monoprint with Akua Inks
September 29 @ 10:00 am - October 1 @ 5:00 pm$540.00
Friday-Sunday, September 29-October 1, 10 AM-5 PM
with Catherine Kernan
Carving woodblocks can fix an image, setting it up for repetition. Woodblocks can also be used in a dynamic way that yields unexpected results without reducing or re-cutting the blocks. Combinations of woodblocks set in motion long sequences in which related images recur and transform in an endless variety of evolving images.
Bring your cut blocks to the workshop and experiment with ways to use your woodblocks with viscosity rolls, offsets, transfers, lift-offs, block to block inking, and layers of resist. Learn to print the cut-away parts as well as the raised parts. Use interference layers to break up and abstract your images.
