Intention & Surprise: Printmaking with Akua Inks
November 6 @ 10:00 am - November 8 @ 5:00 pm
$600.00
Friday-Sunday, November 6-8, 10 AM-5 PM
with Catherine Kernan
Join us for this three-day intensive workshop on viscosity, with guest instructor Catherine Kernan!
Modifying the viscosities of inks then exploiting their interactions yields results that cannot be achieved any other way. Rather than layering each color on a separate plate, inks of varying viscosities that either attract or repel each other are layered on one plate. This allows the development of multi-color prints from a single run through the press and naturally leads to sequences of related images.
This intensive workshop is proposed for artists with some printmaking experience. It will introduce and deepen your understanding of how to mix, modify, and use Akua inks to their full potential for viscosity work. We will cover a variety of possibilities combining relief blocks and polycarbonate plates for both monoprint and monotype.
