Etching Fundamentals I: Hardground
March 5 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm$165.00
Sunday, March 5, 10 AM – 5 PM
Hardground etching is the most basic method of creating a line drawing in a metal plate. Come marvel in the uniquely crisp printed line you get from this technique and begin your etching journey.
In this workshop students will learn to prepare a copper plate, apply the ground, draw into it and etch the plate. Once the plate is etched, we’ll move on to printing a small edition.
Learn all the possibilities of hard ground etching that allows for creating different kinds of lines and textures with multiple types of tools. This seemingly intricate process will be demystified.
This workshop is the first in our Etching Fundamentals Series, a 3-part series for novices, focused on safer and more sustainable etching techniques. Participants are welcome to take one workshop in the series or all of them, whether they are new to etching or experienced printmakers looking to expand beyond traditional etching methods. Enroll in all 3 classes at once and receive 15% off with the coupon code ETCHINGSERIES.
