This workshop is an invitation to an inspirational color journey exploring in depth Color from Nature using any printing inks or paints.
Participants will be guided through relaxing and motivative exercises and charts on how to mix colors from observation and create color schemes for their prints.
Emphasis will be given to hue, value, saturation and temperature, high and low contrast, transparency, opacity and layering, color meaning and perception, responsiveness and awareness.
This workshop will include limited printmaking demonstrations, focusing more on color mixing and charts, however traditional and experimental printmaking techniques will be addressed. Participants will create a portfolio including individual color charts for future reference and may practice a series of related expressive color prints using existing blocks/plates or monotypes.
There is no need for a press.
Former participants in Color and Prints I: Color Scheme Explorations and Color and Prints II: Individual Color Vocabulary for Printmakers will strongly benefit from this workshops.
All levels are welcome.
A complete materials list will be sent after registration.
Basic materials needed include:
- Ink
- Paper
- Ink knife
- Brayer
- Blocks/Plates (woodblock or linoleum or speedy cut)
