Mondays, September 12 – November 14, 12:30 – 2 PM
During this 10-week workshop participants will have the opportunity to explore their individual color vocabulary and to develop a portfolio of different color schemes. Zoom meeting will include presentations, hands-on demonstrations, group and one-on-one discussions, studio time. Working in either woodcut or monotype, participants will be guided through relaxing and meditative color exercises which will deepen their understanding of printmaking inks, color mixing, the use of transparency and opacity, high and low chromatic schemes, color vibration and spatial effects. Emphasis will be given to color meaning and perception, color interpretation, responsiveness and awareness.
Participants are welcome to create new blocks/plates or practice different color schemes on already carved ones. This workshop is open to anyone who has taken Color and Prints I, or has a basic understanding of color theory.
No press necessary. A complete materials list will be sent upon registration, and will include either basic woodblocks, carving tools, ink, paper and brayer or basic monotype plates, ink, paper and brayer.
