Gain a deeper understanding of color mixing to enliven your prints. Emphasis will be given to color interpretation, value, intensity and temperature, high and low contrast, transparency and opacity, layering and color interaction.
Participants will create a portfolio including a series of color charts and print examples exploring: tinted blacks, cool and warm neutrals, primary – secondary and tertiary colors, analogous and split complementary color schemes.
This workshop will include limited printmaking demonstrations, focusing more on color mixing and printmaking ink properties. However, between sessions participants are encouraged to practice color schemes using existing blocks or monotype plates.
There is no need for a press and artists may work with any printmaking inks they have available.
All levels are welcome.
A complete materials list will be sent after registration.
Basic materials needed include:
- ink (black, yellow, red, blue, transparent base)
- paper
- brayer
