This workshop will serve as a guided exploration of combining and creating relief and monotype plates. We will carve and incise several plastic substrates, first working small and spontaneous with mix and match sizes that can be rolled for relief printing. This is a playful method of introducing carved and incised lines to see color interaction and layering quickly, creating a rich vocabulary of mark making within a painterly print. With several carved plates and a monotype plate layered together with stencils, the possibilities are endless.
This workshop will cover the basics of working with “green” materials, and the modifiers that work best with Akua Waterbased Inks. This workshop is open to both the beginning and the experienced printmaker.
