This video series will cover the basics for setting up and maintaining an etching studio. Beginning with caring for an etching press, and moving into blankets, tools, mordants and health & safety issues in the studio.  Liz Chalfin takes you step by step to empower you to be able to do your own maintenance.  This series is made for anyone who is setting up a home studio or managing a studio in a school or art center.

Part 1: Your Etching Press – calibration, lubrication, cleaning, pressure setting – 37 minutes

Part 2:  Your Blankets – uses, cleaning and repurposing – 27 minutes

Part 3:  Your Tools – uses, maintenance and sharpening – 43 minutes

Part 4:  Mordants – setting up ferric chloride and copper sulfate saline etching baths, adjusting strength, neutralizing and disposal – coming soon

Part 5:  Safety – chemicals, msd sheets, substitutions for hazardous materials and PPE – coming soon
