This class combines instruction in monotype techniques with guidance in looking at your work, and the work of the group with an eye (and mind) to amplify what you want to express.

Lynn offers a supportive, lively, exlorative atmosphere that helps students focus, motivate and engage  with each other around making monotypes, a direct and flexible medium.

Using Akua Intaglio Inks, a water soluable soy oil ink, we’ll cover the basics of handling ink, paper, printing, studio organization, tools, brayers, and rollers,  and stencil materials.

The goal is to offer students more fluency with monotype language with a structured approach to exploring  its vocabulary.

This class is organized  around the elements of art as they are expressed in monotype: line with different tools and trace monotype, shape work with edge control and stencil use, value and color instruction with ink modification and layering. Composition and expressive content will be our theme throughout.

The limited class size will offer lots of individual help in finding and developing your own ways of working with monotype to push their practice forward.

Techniques can be done with or without a press.

Beginning and more advanced students are welcome.

You will need to download  ZOOM to your device (laptop, computer, ipad or  phone) to participate.  It’s free to get a basic ZOOM account. Once you register, you will receive an email from the teacher with instructions on how to join the workshop via  ZOOM
