Setting Up A Screen Printing Studio

Our goal was to create a screen printing studio that would enable artists to do both hand and photo process. In 2014 Zea Mays Printmaking was gifted an old Filbar screen printing press and the studio was constructed to facilitate the use of this press and to create a work space and storage area for hand screen printing. For this build we continued  Zea May’s DIY tradition, using materials already on hand and, custom built equipment passed down from fellow printmakers. By converting a room once used for digital media, we were able to create an effective and humble workspace at a low cost while still remaining safe and productive.
