Are you curious to explore your prints three-dimensionally? In this 3-day studio workshop, participants will foster a 3-D way of mind into printmaking. The workshop will provide a fun, experimental and creative environment in which to discover the different ways our prints can be transformed to incorporate 3-D. We will experiment with shaping, collaging, cutting, folding, sewing and pasting of prints to discover the different ways prints can be explored as objects, installation or formats that bridge the 2-D / 3-D realm.
The workshop will include a brief presentation of artists working sculpturally through printmaking. Participants will meet individually with the instructor to create a road map for their project. We will also take time to look at each others projects and learn from each other through critique, discussion and sharing.
Bring lots of prints, proofs, printing plates and materials and come prepared to experiment and play. In our 3 days together you can expect to gain new ideas for future projects and to complete the workshop with a series of examples, mock-ups and more finished projects.
Artists working in any print or sculptural technique, and at any artistic stage are very welcome and extremely encouraged to sign up for this inter-disciplinary and collaborative workshop! Open to all levels.
