Play and improvise in this workshop as a means of generating ideas and expand your visual vocabulary. This workshop will provide guided experiences in a variety of monotype techniques with the addition of a carved plate to explore color layering. We will explore combining textural plates with stencils and masks. Simple collage techniques will be introduced to encourage visual surprise, allowing these chance moments to loosen up any art making practice. Teaching will highlight basic principles of color, texture, and light in collage and monotype, while becoming familiar with how to print with Akua Intaglio Inks.
This workshop is for all levels of experience with printing and art making, especially for teachers on school vacation to relax and create on your time off! You will generate a small series of collages and monotypes that may jumpstart your next print project.
