Make big monotypes, one of a kind prints, that include big color, marks, stencils, transfer drawing and collage. Anything goes!

Painters: This is a workshop where you can easily translate your painterly skills to printmaking.

Printmakers: This is a wonderful opportunity to try scaling up your smaller prints, loosening up your marks and moves, with the support of an experienced large scale monotype maker and teacher.

We’ll cover basic and experimental techniques such as handling big rollers, making marks with a variety of tools, ink modification, layering and registration, collage and adding marks with transfer drawing. Any kind of imagery, from representation to completely abstract,  will work with these techniques.  We’ll use Akua Intaglio inks, which are water-washable and offer easy modification for controlling transparency. Students will have use of 18×24 plastic plates and print on 22×30 sheets of paper.
Students will leave the workshop with finished prints as well as prints to continue developing off the press.
All levels are welcome.
