Open Studio Access
Access to Zea Mays Printmaking Studio is available to individuals who have an appropriate level of experience in printmaking a a familiarity with Zea Mays' safer approaches to printmaking. You are eligible for Open Studio if you take a class or workshop at Zea Mays Printmaking, or by portfolio review and orientation session. Open Studio participants have access to work independently in one or more of the following printmaking techniques: intaglio, relief, monotype, and photopolymer processes.
Zea Mays Printmaking's fully equipped 2,000 sq. ft. printmaking studio is located on the third floor of the Arts and Industry Building in Florence, Massachusettes. Equipment includes a 32” x 60” Takach etching press, 24" x 40" Takach etching press, 24" x 36" Praga etching press, small book press, large plate exposure unit for photo-polymer work, ferric chloride vertical tank etching bath, airbrush booth, semi-dark room, light table, paper soaking trays, developing trays, rollers and brayers, hot plate, work tables, paper cutter, library of books and current print periodicals, an archive of prints and more.
