Artist's Statement and Bio

The printmaking process for me involves a sense of mystery, emergence, and discovery. In my method of creating reductive monotypes, the image gradually appears on the plate. I begin with an inked plate of Plexiglas and remove the areas of light. In this way, the final picture emanates out of the remaining ink. I also print multiple layers on one piece of paper. Subtle, faint reminiscences of color in the overlapped forms evoke a variety of perspectives: stages of growth, memory, and the passage of time. Most of my prints involve a close observation of nature.

I received my B.A. from Haverford College in Pennsylvania and my MFA in painting from the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. I have also studied at artist colonies and studios in Paris, New York, and Vermont. My work has been exhibited throughout the United States and Israel.
