My abstract images have their sources in nature. I am attracted to shapes that seem to me to be universal in the landscape, shapes that occur often but may go unnoticed, shapes that evoke nature's poetry.
I enjoy the directness of making marks in drypoint on to a plate, and after making one print from a plate, I tend to continue its theme with a series of related prints. I have moved away from editioning, preferring to create only one print from each plate. Unless otherwise noted, all of my etchings are really monotypes. Groups of my prints sometimes create a narrative, a chorus emanating from a theme.
My working methods and techniques are conservative, even old fashioned. I love the craft of print making. |
